About Laura Burgess
(formerly Laura Suter)
Laura Burgess
Founder, Wildflower Havanese
Kittredge, Colorado

Laura Burgess (formerly Laura Suter) is dedicated to the Havanese breed.
Since 2003, she has been raising and training Havanese dogs. Laura has
received extensive education in the Havanese breed, including breeding and
reproduction, neurological development, socialization, and puppy healthcare.
Laura has produced championship dogs who have
achieved top honors in American Kennel Club and
United Kennel Club dog shows starting with her first
Havanese “Daisy” followed by “Soji.”

Laura began researching the Havanese breed in
2000. However it wasn’t till 2003 that Laura located
her first available dog “Daisy” for whom she traveled
from Colorado to Arizona to pickup. Soon thereafter
Laura started training Daisy and over the months
that followed took classes twice a week. Within four
months, Daisy entered the ring and become an
American Kennel Club (AKC) Champion.

Having found her passion as a Havanese breeder
and trainer, Laura then purchased “Soji,” who was
trained by Laura and her then 12-year old son Arie.
Soji also became an AKC champion. In 2003 she
founded
Wildflower Havanese.

She currently shows her dogs about once a month
and travels to shows throughout Colorado.

Laura earned an Associates Degree in Journalism at
Lake Superior University in Michigan, and a
Bachelors Degree in Public Relations and Healthcare
from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green,
Kentucky.
Laura is also trained as a certified nursing assistant, and brings this experience
to the whelping and care of Wildflower puppies.

Born in Michigan, Laura lived in Kentucky and Tennessee before moving to
Colorado in 1988. She currently lives in the mountain town of Kittredge,
Colorado, with her husband Davis, sons Andreas and Arie, and daughter Anna,
all of whom are active in family-run
Wildflower Havanese.
